    Preliminary evidence indicates that affective empathy is differentially related to proactive and reactive functions of aggression. However, additional longitudinal research is needed to understand the potential reciprocal nature of these links. The current study examined the bidirectional associations between affective empathy and proactive and reactive aggression over a 6-month period during middle childhood, with attention to potential gender differences. SW-100 in vivo Data were collected from 294 elementary school children (52% girls; M = 9.25 years; SD = 0.944 years) and their homeroom teachers. Affective empathy was assessed using self-reports, and teachers provided ratings of children’s functions of aggression. Data were collected during the fall and spring of one academic year. Overall, results suggest some evidence that affective empathy and functions of aggression are reciprocally linked over time. As predicted, Time 1 empathy was inversely associated with Time 2 proactive aggression and Time 1 reactive aggression was inversely associated with Time 2 empathy. Contrary to expectations, Time 1 proactive aggression was marginally positively associated with Time 2 empathy, and Time 1 empathy was not significantly associated with Time 2 reactive aggression. These prospective links did not differ according to gender. Implications and directions for future research are discussed. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.in English, Spanish ANTECEDENTES La incidencia de complicaciones linfáticas tras el trasplante renal (post-kidney-transplantation lymphatic, PKTL) varía considerablemente en la literatura. Esto se debe en parte a que no se ha establecido una definición universalmente aceptada. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo proponer una definición aceptable para las complicaciones PKTL y un sistema de clasificación de la gravedad basado en la estrategia de tratamiento. MÉTODOS Se realizó una búsqueda sistemática de la literatura relevante en MEDLINE y Web of Science. Se logró un consenso para la definición y la clasificación de gravedad de las PKTL entre veinte centros de trasplante de alto volumen. RESULTADOS En 32 de los 87 estudios incluidos se definía la linforrea/linfocele. Sesenta y tres artículos describían como se trataban las PKTL, pero ninguno calificó la gravedad de las mismas. La definición propuesta para la linforrea fue la de un débito diario superior a 50 ml de líquido (no orina, sangre o pus) a través del drenaje o del orificio cutáneo tras su retirada, más allá del 7º día postoperatorio del trasplante renal. La definición propuesta para linfocele fue la de una colección de líquido de tamaño variable adyacente al riñón trasplantado, tras haber descartado un urinoma, hematoma o absceso. Las PKTL de grado A fueron aquellas con escaso impacto o que no requirieron tratamiento invasivo; las PKTL de grado B fueron aquellas que precisaron intervención no quirúrgica y las PKTL de grado C aquellas en que fue necesaria la reintervención quirúrgica. CONCLUSIÓN Se propone una definición clara y una clasificación de gravedad basada en la estrategia de tratamiento de las PKTLs. La definición propuesta y el sistema de calificación en 3 grados son razonables, sencillos y fáciles de comprender, y servirán para estandarizar los resultados de las PKTL y facilitar las comparaciones entre los diferentes estudios.This essay, based on a “militant ethnography” of the attempts of the small radical grassroots activist group, Our London (a pseudonym), to mobilize a collective oppositional politics through activities around an election campaign, engages critically with E. Laclau and C. Mouffe’s arguments on discourse and collectivity in Hegemony and Socialist Strategy (London Verso, 1985). I argue, on the basis of my findings, that while their model does provide insights that help describe the process of building collectivity from among disparate perspectives and identities, we need to go beyond a focus on discourse alone and consider the ways politics is shaped by material contexts. This is necessary if we are to understand the continued appeal of class politics as well as the difficulties in mobilizing collectivity in highly unequal and fragmented cities. From an activist perspective, the essay also highlights how developing a conception of collective interests and a critique of overarching systems of exploitation can be important in building political unity. © 2020 The Authors. The British Journal of Sociology published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd on behalf of London School of Economics and Political Science.We use video particle tracking microrheology (VPTMR) in order to investigate the viscoelasticity of salmon DNA and correlate it to its steady-flow shear-thinning viscosity. Aqueous solutions of DNA are tested in a wide concentration range from the dilute to the semidilute unentangled concentration regime. The observed mean squared displacement shows power-law scaling with lag-time which is equivalent to power-law behavior of the complex modulus as a function of frequency that is, |G* (ω)| = S ∙ ω α . The relaxation exponent α changes abruptly with concentration in the semidilute regime from about 1 to about 0.5 which is the exponent predicted by the Rouse model. The quasi-property S follows the scaling of viscosity for uncharged polymers near θ-conditions in the semidilute regime that is, η ∼ c 1 / 3 ν eff – 1 with νeff = 0.50 - 0.51. The shear-thinning exponent observed by viscometry increases gradually towards the value of 0.5 which has been predicted for Rouse chains under flow. Our findings are in agreement with recent studies of DNA solutions where DNA is treated as a model polymer and addresses the low-molar mass regime of DNA viscoelasticity. This work demonstrates that the combination of passive particle tracking with viscometry can provide a complete picture on the viscoelasticity of DNA-based biopolymer materials. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.In this study, we investigated the visual system of the Port Jackson shark Heterodontus portusjacksoni, a shallow-dwelling benthic species and generalist predator endemic to the temperate coastal waters around southern Australia. Measurements of retinal spectral sensitivity in juvenile sharks, made using single flash and heterochromatic flicker photometry under conditions of dark- or light-adaptation, indicated a peak sensitivity at around 500 nm, with no evidence of a spectral shift with increasing levels of light adaptation. Histological sections of the retina revealed a heavily rod dominated retina containing only a few small cell profiles in the photoreceptor layer that might represent a sparse cone population or may be immature rods. Assessment of retinal topography in juvenile sharks indicated the presence of a distinct specialisation for increased visual spatial acuity in the form of a horizontal streak of higher rod photoreceptor (~80,000 rods mm-2 ) and ganglion cell (~1,800 cells mm-2 ) densities across the horizontal meridian of the eye.
