There is a positive relationship between student nurses acting with awareness and caring.
A quantitative, descriptive, correlational, and contextual research design with a purposive sampling method was used in the study. Respondents (
= 56) were student nurses in their third- and fourth-year level of study. Data were collected by use of a self-administered questionnaire.
There was a negative correlation between acting with awareness and caring. There was no difference in caring among third- and fourth-year students.

Organophosphorus (OP) pesticides, as a group, are widely used because they are rapidly degraded in the environment and because they have excellent efficacy and an acceptable price point. However, the chemical fate of organophosphorus pesticides is influenced by several factors, including their chemistry in aquatic environments. Among many degradation choices, hydrolysis by metal ions appears to be a good approach. Dissolved metal ions have been shown to promote the hydrolysis of organophosphorus pesticides. Using silver ion, we showed the effectiveness under in vitro and in vivo conditions for this metal ion to decontaminate water polluted by the organophosphorus phosalone. Phosalone was completely degraded in the presence of silver ions in a mole ratio of 71 in 20 min. Rainbow trout were divided into experimental groups to investigate the most effective ratio of silver/phosalone for pesticide degradation. Silver ion (2%) at a concentration of 0.75 and 0.1 mL removed phosalone (2%) at concentrations of 0.4 and 0.5 mL. All the rainbow trout survived in these two groups. This experiment suggested that silver ions can be beneficial at ratios in the range of 14 to 16 by hydrolyzing phosalone by attacking the electron-deficient phosphorus atom in the pesticide.This study aimed to identify factors contributing to the timing of return to work after surgical treatment of trapeziometacarpal joint osteoarthritis and to calculate the costs of lost productivity. We included 627 patients with paid employment who underwent trapeziectomy and ligament reconstruction with tendon interposition. Time to return to work was measured through filling online questionnaires and analysed using survival analysis at 6 weeks and 3, 6 and 12 months after the surgery. Patients also filled in the Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire. Costs of lost productivity were calculated using the human capital method. After 1 year, 78% of the patients returned to work. The median time to return to work was 12 weeks. Factors that significantly affected the time to return to work were occupational intensity (light, moderate or heavy physical labour), whether the dominant hand was treated and the Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire work score and hand function score of the unoperated side at baseline. The costs of lost productivity were estimated at €11,000 on the patient level, resulting in €16.8 million on the Dutch population level per year.Level of evidence II.Nationally, there are low rates of high school-age youth receiving health care transition (HCT) preparation from health care providers. This pilot study implemented and assessed the use of a structured HCT process, the Six Core Elements of HCT, in two school-based health centers (SBHCs) in Washington, DC. The pilot study examined the feasibility of incorporating the Six Core Elements into routine care and identified self-care skill gaps among students. Quality improvement methods were used to customize, implement, and measure the Six Core Elements and HCT supports. After the pilot, both SBHCs demonstrated improvement in their implementation of the structured HCT process. More than half of the pilot participants reported not knowing how to find their doctor’s phone number and not knowing what a referral is. These findings indicate the need for incorporating HCT supports into SBHCs to help students build self-care skills necessary for adulthood.HIV drug resistance testing is fundamental in clinical patient management, but data on HIV-1 drug-resistant mutations (DRMs) is scarce in the Caribbean and in Suriname limited to one survey on transmitted resistance. The aim of this study was to address this gap, to gain insight in acquired HIV drug resistance (ADR) prevalence and mutation patterns, and to improve HIV-1 treatment outcome of people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Suriname. A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted from July 2018 through January 2019 among treatment-experienced PLHIV (n = 72), with either treatment failure or antiretroviral therapy restart. Genotypic drug resistance testing was performed and DRM impact on drug effectiveness was examined. Genotypic drug resistance testing revealed 97.2% HIV-1 subtype B, 2.8% B/D recombinants and a ADR prevalence of 63.2% in treatment failure patients, with a predominance of nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) mutations. find more The most common DRMs were M184V (23.6%) and K103N (18.8%). A high level of non-DRM polymorphisms was observed in both the reverse transcriptase (RT) and protease (PR) gene. Interesting deviations from the existing mutation datasets were noted at position E248 and R83 of the RT gene and L63 and V77 in the PR gene. Full susceptibility to all examined drugs was 54.2%, while high-level drug resistance was estimated at 37.5%, which seems promising for treatment outcomes for PLHIV in Suriname, although cross-resistance to next-generation NNRTIs was already estimated for nearly a quarter of the patients. The meager 2.9% of PR DRMs rendered protease inhibitors as an effective rescue HIV-1 treatment.
