Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most lethal cancers in humans. The inhibition of peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerase (Pin1) gene expression may have great potential in the treatment of HCC. Veliparib N-Acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) was used to target the liver. Cholesterol-modified antimicrobial peptide DP7 (DP7-C) acts as a carrier, the GalNAc-siRNA/DP7-C complex increases the uptake of GalNAc-siRNA and the escape of endosomes in hepatocytes. In addition, DP7-C nanoparticles and hydrogel-assisted GalNAc-Pin1 siRNA delivery can effectively enhance the stability and prolong the silencing effects of Pin1 siRNA. In an orthotopic liver cancer model, the GalNAc-Pin1 siRNA/DP7-C/hydrogel complex can potentially regulate Pin1 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma cells and effectively inhibit tumor progression. Our study proves that Pin1 siRNA is an efficient method for the treatment of HCC and provides a sustainable and effective drug delivery system for the suppression of liver cancer.
Overcrowding in emergency departments (EDs) is a worldwide challenge. As a result of the increased demand for EDs, slow internal patient flow, and unavailability of hospital beds, patients are kept in the corridors, causing a boarding effect. Studies have associated boarding in EDs with unfavorable clinical outcomes and adverse events. Thus, the purpose of this systematic review was to describe the effects of ED boarding on the occurrence of adverse events.
We followed the Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies in Epidemiology checklist and registered this systematic review with PROSPERO (CRD42020117915).
Literature searches were performed using the databases PubMed, Scopus, Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information (LILACS), Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and Cochrane, as well as Google Scholar, OpenThesis, and the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations from September to November 2019. Cohort or case control studies that evaluated the occurrence of adverse events in patients who remained in an ED, waiting for a hospital bed, were included in the review.
Seven studies met our eligibility criteria. Boarding in EDs may be related to a reduction in the quality of care, resulting in unfavorable clinical outcomes and adverse events.
Boarding in EDs may be related to increases in adverse incidents and events.
The evidence in this review suggests that ED boarding increases the occurrence of unfavorable outcomes and identifies important considerations for future research.

This study evaluated the HRQoL of nursing students and relationships between lifestyle behaviors including smoking, diet, alcohol intake and physical activity. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2018 using the Short-Form 12V2 to measure the HRQoL of 475 students from both regional and metropolitan universities in Queensland, Australia. z-scores were aggregated into a Physical Composite Score (PCS) and a Mental Composite Score (MCS). Multivariate linear regression was used to explore the associations. Nursing students (94.5% female) had lower HRQoL scores relative to the general Australian population. Students enrolled at the regional university, with higher income; higher intakes of vitamin A, calcium, and iodine; and more physical activity had a higher Mental Composite Score, but those with health conditions and high intakes of meat, fat, carbohydrates, and sugar reported lower Physical Composite Score compared to their counterparts. Skipping breakfast, physical inactivity, and alcohol score were inversely associated with HRQoL. This study highlights the need for strategies to address the poor lifestyle and HRQoL in nursing students to support their physical and mental health.
Our aim in this meta-analysis was to determine the effect of garlic supplementation on adiponectin and leptin serum levels.
A systematic search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, ISI Web of Science and Cochrane Library for eligible trials up to November 2020. A fixed-effects model was used to pool calculated effect sizes.
Five trials were included in the overall analysis. Our analysis showed that garlic supplementation did not significantly affect adiponectin (Hedges’s 0.20; 95% CI -0.06, 0.47; P-values=.12) and leptin (Hedges’s 0.08; 95% CI -0.26, 0.41; P-values=.65) concentrations in comparison with placebo. However, in the subgroup analysis, significantly increased serum adiponectin level was seen following garlic supplementation in trials with a mean age of participants ˂30years (Hedges’s 0.44; 95% CI 0.01, 0.87; P-values=.04), the doses ˂1.5g/d (Hedges’s 0.38; 95% CI 0.02, 0.71; P-values=.04) and trials with duration ≥8weeks (Hedges’s 0.48; 95% CI 0.08, 0.89; P-values=.02).
Overall, garlic supplementation could not change the circulatory adiponectin and leptin levels. Subgroup analyses showed a significant reduction in adiponectin levels in younger participants, longer duration and lower intervention dose. However, further studies are needed to confirm the present results.

It shares an amino acid sequence with denileukin diftitox, but has improved purity and an increased percentage of active monomer. We undertook a multicenter, single-arm phase II study of E7777 in patients with relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) to evaluate its efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics, and immunogenicity. A total of 37 patients were enrolled, of which 17 and 19 patients had PTCL and CTCL, respectively, and one patient with another type of lymphoma (extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type), diagnosed by the Central Pathological Diagnosis Committee. Among the 36 patients with PTCL and CTCL, objective response rate based on the independent review was 36% (41% and 31%, respectively). The median progression-free survival was 3.1 months (2.1 months in PTCL and 4.2 months in CTCL). The common adverse events (AEs) observed were increased aspartate aminotransferase (AST) / alanine aminotransferase (ALT), hypoalbuminemia, lymphopenia, and pyrexia.
