The small nucleolar RNA host gene 12 (SNHG12) has been reported to play an important role in the tumorigenesis and progression of PCa, but the functional underlying mechanism has not been studied clearly. We detected the expression level of SNHG12 in PCa tissues and matched adjacent normal tissues that were collected from 85 patients. Then, colony formation assays, MTT experiments, and flow cytometry were used to examine the effect of SNHG12 on proliferation, cell cycle distribution, and apoptosis of DU145 cells. Further, Transwell invasion assay was utilized to assess whether SNHG12 participates in PCa cell invasion and affects the secretion of VEGF secretion in DU145 cells. Finally, we investigated the effect of SNHG12 on tumor growth in vivo. We found that SNHG12 promoted cell proliferation and suppressed apoptosis in PCa cells, which suggests that SNHG12 is probably a novel PCa biomarker and therapy target of PCa.[This retracts the article DOI 10.1155/2014/208016.].
Our research is designed to explore the function of brain acid soluble protein 1 (BASP1) in the progression of gastric cancer (GC) and its underlying molecular mechanisms.
In this study, the expression of BASP1 was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) in both GC tissue and GC cells. The cell cloning, proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion potential of AGS and HGC-27 cells were, respectively, determined using colony formation assay, 5-ethynyl-20-deoxyuridine (EDU) assay, flow cytometry, and Transwell assay. The protein expressions of Bax, caspase-3, Bcl-2, matrix metalloproteinases 2 (MMP-2), MMP-9, Wilms tumor 1 (WT1), Wnt, and
-catenin in AGS and HGC-27 cells were measured by western blot. In addition, the mRNA expressions of WT1, Wnt, and
-catenin in AGS and HGC-27 cells were detected by qRT-PCR.
BASP1 expression was significantly downregulated in both GC tissue and GC cells. BASP1 overexpression markedly repressed proliferation, migration, and invasion and facilitated apoptosis in AGS and HGC-27 cells. In addition, BASP1 overexpression notably promoted the protein expression of Bax and caspase-3 in AGS and HGC-27 cells and inhibited the expression of Bcl-2, MMP-2, and MMP-9. Moreover, BASP1 overexpression significantly inhibited the mRNA and protein expression of WT1, Wnt, and
-catenin in AGS and HGC-27 cells.
BASP1 could significantly suppress cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and promote apoptosis through inhibiting the activation of the Wnt/
-catenin pathway in GC.

A meta-analysis was conducted to estimate the impact of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) on outcomes in patients with digestive system cancers.
A systemic literature survey was performed by searching the Cochrane Library and PubMed databases for articles that evaluated the impact of CTGF on outcomes in patients with digestive system cancers. Hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals were calculated for prognostic factors, overall and recurrence-free survival using RevMan 5.3 software.
This meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate a total of 11 studies that included 1730 patients. The results showed that elevated CTGF expression was significantly correlated with advanced age, larger tumor size, multiple tumors, and vascular invasion. Subgroup analysis by cancer type revealed increased risk for lymph node metastasis and advanced tumor node metastasis (TNM) stage in gastric cancer, compared with colorectal cancer. An unfavorable effect of elevated CTGF levels on overall survival was found in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and patients with gastric cancer, while survival was improved in colorectal cancer patients with high CTGF expression, compared to those with normal levels of CTGF.
Elevated CTGF expression may be a novel biomarker for disease status and predicted survival outcomes in patients with specific digestive system cancers.

To study the efficacy of arthroscopy for treating symptomatic bone cysts of the foot and ankle through the follow-up of patients and to further explore the application value of 3D printing technology in this treatment.
Twenty-one patients with symptomatic bone cysts in the foot and ankle who underwent arthroscopic surgery in our Center from March 2010 to December 2018 were enrolled, including 11 in the experimental group and 10 in the control group. For the control group, C-arm fluoroscopy was used intraoperatively to confirm the positioning of the cysts; for the experimental group, a 3D model of the lesion tissue and the 3D-printed individualized guides were prepared to assist the positioning of the cysts. Debridement of the lesion tissues was conducted under an arthroscope. Regular follow-ups were conducted. 4-HNE The time of establishing arthroscopic approaches and the times of intraoperative fluoroscopy between the two groups were compared. Significance was determined as
< 0.05.
The postoperative pamptomatic bone cysts of the ankle and foot, the surgeon can design the operation preoperatively and perform the rehearsal, which would make it easier to establish the arthroscopic approach, better understand the anatomy, and make the operation smoother. This trial is registered with http//www.clinicaltrials.govNCT03152916.

Inflammation may be involved in the pathogenesis of acute aortic dissection (AAD). Toll-like receptor 4 (
) is known to play a critical role in regulating the immune and inflammatory processes. To date, the relationship between genetic variation of
and AAD is far from clear. The purpose of our study was to illustrate the relevance of
polymorphisms with the susceptibility to AAD.
A total of 222 AAD patients and 222 controls were enrolled in this study. Frequency distributions of
polymorphisms (rs10759932 in the promoter and rs11536889 in the 3′-untranslated region) were determined by the KASP method. Clinical parameters were acquired from subjects’ medical records, and serum
levels were collected from our previously published data.
We found that rs10759932 polymorphism was associated with a reduced risk of AAD in the overall population (CC vs. TT OR = 0.393, 95%CI = 0.164-0.939,
= 0.036; recessive model OR = 0.439, 95%CI = 0.196-0.984,
= 0.045) and subgroup analyses stratified by sex. The GC genotype and dominant model of rs11536889 conferred a significantly higher risk of AAD compared with GG genotype in female subjects (GC vs.
