How to Avoid Regretting a Tattoo

By Stephanie Bajzik

A massive majority of ink enthusiasts will end up regretting at least one of their tattoos. This can be easily avoided though. Aside from the typical Grandmotherly advice about just not getting one at all, there are other ways to ensure that you will get exactly what you want and live your life with that fresh ink free of regrets.

Never be in a hurry when choosing. Chances are, that book of images that you choose from in the tat shop randomly on a drunken Friday night will not be the lifelong image you want plastered to your body. Remember to always use a professional. Scratchers (guys with tattoo guns) may charge less, but you get what you pay for guys.

Do not ever go for something that is currently in style or trendy. That trend will fade just like tie dye and petticoats. For those of you who do not know, it’s highly advisable to avoid getting a partner or spouse’s name inked on your skin. This is not just superstition talking, but pure common sense.

As you have probably seen on Facebook memes and gifs all over the internet, spelling can be a tremendous issue. Double and even triple check that your spelling and that of your artist is correct. The last thing you need is to have “regerts.”
